National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day salutes America’s favorite sandwich spread. What kid didn’t grow up loving a PB&J sandwich?
Personally, I always ate my peanut butter sandwiches NAKED.
On this sticky holiday, I will share with you a simple, yummy recipe.
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
1-8 oz. bag of @Kiss chocolate candies, unwrapped
1/2 cup shortening ( I use Crisco)
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed light-brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions: Preheat oven to 375* F. Beat shortening and peanut butter in a large (mixer) bowl until well blended. Add sugars and beat until light & fluffy. Add egg, milk, vanilla and beat well. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on un-greased cookie sheet (I place on parchment paper for easy removal.) Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate kiss candy into the center of each cookie. Remove from pan and cool completely. Makes about thirty-six cookies.
